Who is the best kicker in the NFL? Justin Tucker is responsible for one of the longest field goals ever and is widely considered to be one of the best kickers of all time. As we dive into our 2024 kicker rankings, it’s clear there are a lot of greats around the NFL.

Let’s dive into our full fantasy football kicker rankings 2024. We’ll provide updates every six weeks, but our weekly fantasy kicker rankings will come out every Monday.

Worst NFL kickers 2024

32. Chad Ryland/Joey Slye, New England Patriots

Chad Ryland was the worst kicker in the NFL last year. It wasn’t particularly close either. The New England Patriots rookie, brought in to replace one of the best NFL kicks (Nick Folk) had an alarming 64 percent field-goal conversion rate in 2024. Two misses came from 30-39 yards away with an additional five whiffs from 40-49 yards. If he loses the training camp battle, it’s to a kicker with an 81.5 percent success rate since 2022.

31. Anders Carlson/Greg Joseph, Green Bay Packers

It says something about the Patriots’ situation that the Green Bay Packers aren’t at the bottom of our rankings entering the 2024 NFL season. Anders Carlson, the brother of Las Vegas Raiders kicker Anders Carlson, just wasn’t good as a rookie as evidenced by his 81.8 percent success rate and big problems in January. The competition he’s facing in training camp? A kicker in Greg Joseph who converted just 79.4 percent of his field-goal attempts in the last two seasons with the Minnesota Vikings. The Packers roster is excellent, but Green Bay is in a very bad spot at kicker and the winter weather will only make it worse.

30. Ramiz Ahmed, Washington Commanders

Journeyman who have bounced around spring football leagues and been fringe roster players in the NFL rightfully sit near the bottom of NFL kicker rankings. Ramiz Ahmed went undrafted in 2019. He spent 2020 on the Chicago Bears practice squad and has only appeared in one NFL game (2022) since entering the league. Considering his success rate in the UFL was only 77 percent, with a season-long of 46 yards, our expectations are quite low for the Washington Commanders kicker.

29. Jake Bates, Detroit Lions

Jake Bates became a familiar name after he drilled multiple 50-plus yard bombs this past spring in the UFL, including a 64-yard field goal. However, it’s also worth keeping in mind that Bates made just 77 percent of his field-goal attempts this past spring. The reports out of the Detroit Lions training camp on Bates also aren’t promising. All of this is to say, the Lions might get to October and decide Bates isn’t an NFL-caliber kicker.

28. Will Reichard, Minnesota Vikings

As we always do in our NFL kicker rankings, rookies open the season at the bottom. Chosen by the Minnesota Vikings with the 203rd overall pick, Will Reichard kicked field goals for the Alabama Crimson Tide from 2019-’23. He finished with a career 84 percent success rate, partially dragged down by a poor 2021 season (78.6 percent). There’s potential here, but there’s just no predicting how rookie kickers will fare.

27. Cam Little, Jacksonville Jaguars

A first-team All-SEC selection in 2023, Cam Little found his way to the Jacksonville Jaguars with the 212th overall pick. The Arkansas alum made at least 81 percent of his field-goal attempts in all three seasons with the Razorbacks. Of note, after going just 3-for-56 from 50-plus yards in his first two seasons, Little boasted an 80 percent success rate from that distance on 5 attempts this past season.

26. Joshua Karty, Los Angeles Rams

A first-team All-American in the past two seasons, the Los Angeles Rams kept Stanford kicker Joshua Karty from leaving the state. Karty excelled from 40-49 yards in the last two years, making all 17 field-goal attempts. He also boasts a 70 percent success rate on 10 attempts from 50-plus in the last two years. As for his power, Karty’s career-long at Stanford was 61 yards and he made a 56-yarder last year.

25. Graham Gano, New York Giants

The hope is that Graham Gano, entering his age-37 season, struggled last year due to a knee injury that later ended his season. It seems plausible, considering his success rate from 2017-’22 (92.3 percent on 143 attempts) plummeted to 64.7 percent on 17 attempts last season. We’ll get our answer quickly and if it doesn’t work out with the New York Giants, maybe the Carolina Panthers will want Gano back. At the very least, he should get another shot elsewhere if he’s ever cut by the Giants.

24. Eddy Pineiro, Carolina Panthers

It will come as no surprise that Eddy Pineiro didn’t receive many opportunities last season (29 attempts), which might have something to do with his conversion rate dropping from 94.2 percent to 86.2 percent. Of greater concern, he only made 85 percent of his extra-point attempts (17-for-20) last year. There are very few players on the Carolina Panthers roster with a ton of job security, Pineiro isn’t one of them.

23. Blake Grupe, New Orleans Saints

• Blake Grupe stats 2023 (ESPN): 30-for-37 on field-goal attempts, 6-of-9 from 50-plus yards

The New Orleans Saints brought Blake Grupe in to replace Will Lutz last season and the rookie came through, for the most part. He did rank 25th in conversion rate last season, but some benefit of the doubt is given to a rookie. Plus, the majority of his misses came from 50-plus yards. With that said, Grupe’s job might be threatened if he comes out of the 2024 season having missed multiple attempts from 20-29 yards out again.

22. Matt Prater, Arizona Cardinals

• Matt Prater stats 2023 (ESPN): 28-for-33 on field-goal attempts, 9-for-12 from 50-plus

Matt Prater went undrafted out of Central Florida, entering the league all the way back in 2007 with the Atlanta Falcons. Nearly two decades later, his leg is as strong as it’s ever been. The 40-year-old made nine attempts from 50-plus yards last season, a career-high. We won’t see that replicated in 2024, not with a much-improved Arizona Cardinals offense, but we do expect Prater to keep defying Father Time.

21. Will Lutz, Denver Broncos

• Will Lutz stats 2023 (ESPN): 30-for-34 on field-goal attempts, 7-for-10 from 40-plus yards

Sean Payton wanted “his guy” at kicker after landing with the Denver Broncos and he eventually landed Will Lutz. The veteran, who spent six seasons kicking for the New Orleans Saints, did massively improve his success rate from year to year (74.2 percent to 88.2 percent). Denver is a favorable kicking environment, but a bad Broncos offense and an 81.7 percent success rate since 2020 drop Lutz in our rankings.

20. Chase McLaughlin, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

• Chase McLaughlin stats 2023 (ESPN): 29-for-31 on field-goal attempts, 7-for-8 from 50-plus yards

This is going to be a prove-it season for Chase McLaughlin. Upon landing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last season, he performed like one of the best NFL kickers in 2023 with a 93.5 percent success rate. However, his success rate from 2019-’22 stood at just 78.7 percent on 85 attempts. There’s plenty of year-to-year variance at the position, so we want to see McLaughlin do it again before moving him up our fantasy football kicker rankings for 2024.

19. Jason Myers, Seattle Seahawks

• Jason Myers stats 2023 (ESPN): 35-of-42 on field-goal attempts, 4-for-8 from 50-plus yards

Jason Myers has taken the Seattle Seahawks on a bit of a ride since he joined the team in 2019. Over the last six seasons, his field-goal success rate has gone from 82.1 recent to 100 percent to 73.9 percent then 91.9 percent. Last season, it dropped to 83.3 percent on a career-high 42 field-goal attempts. He has missed at least one attempt from 30-39 yards out in three consecutive seasons and he’s more spotty from distance, but the Seahawks at least have a ‘good’ kicker who they can fairly regularly depend on.

18. Greg Zuerlein, New York Jets

• Greg Zuerlein stats 2023 (ESPN): 35-of-38 on field-goal attempts, 18-of-20 from 40-plus yards

Greg Zuerlein has played in the NFL so long that he spent four seasons kicking for the St. Louis Rams. More than a decade later, the 36-year-old remains excellent. He converted on 92.1 percent of his field-goal attempts in 2023, the first time he’s converted on 90-plus percent of his kicks since 2017. Zuerlein won’t be called upon as much this season for field goals, assuming Aaron Rodgers stays healthy, but he should keep that success rate hovering around 85 percent. Remember, his success rate was under 82 percent from 2021-’22.

17. Matt Gay, Indianapolis Colts

• Matt Gay stats 2023 (ESPN): 33-for-41 on field-goal attempts, 8-of-13 from 50-plus

The Indianapolis Colts spent big on Matt Gay last offseason after he made 93.3 percent of his field goal attempts, including seven from 50-plus yards, with the Los Angeles Rams. The former fifth-round pick wasn’t quite as effective for Indianapolis. Gay’s conversion rate dropped to 80.5 percent on a career-high 41 attempts, with five misses coming from 50-plus. If Anthony Richardson is healthy, the Colts should end drives in better field position and either score more touchdowns or put Gay in range where he’s more accurate.

16. Evan McPherson, Cincinnati Bengals

• Evan McPherson stats 2023 (ESPN): 26-for-31 on field-goal attempts, 19-for-19 from inside 50 yards

The good news for the Cincinnati Bengals is that Evan McPherson fixed his issues from the 2023 season, which saw him make just 69 percent of his attempts from 40-49 yards. In fact, McPherson was perfect in that area and from much closer last season. The success rate is dragged down by how often Cincinnati let him go for it from 50-plus yards (12, T-2nd most in NFL) but that number should come down in 2024. with a healthy Joe Burrow, Tee Higgins and Ja’Marr Chase. We’ve seen what McPherson is capable of and there’s the talent to be one of the best NFL kickers in 2024.

15. Dustin Hopkins, Cleveland Browns

• Dustin Hopkins stats 2023 (ESPN): 33-of-36 on field-goal attempts, 8-of-8 from 50-plus yards

After seeing Dustin Hopkins drill 90 percent of his 30-field goal attempts from 2021-’22 with the Los Angles Chargers, the Cleveland Browns saw an opportunity in 2023. In replacing Cade York, Hopkins provided the Browns coaching staff with everything they wanted and more. His three misses came from within 40-49 yards, but he did go a perfect 8-for-8 from 50-plus. Three consecutive seasons with a 90-plus percent success rate is enough to buy into Hopkins after he was just solid in Washington (84 percent).

14. Cameron Dicker, Los Angeles Chargers

• Cameron Dicker stats 2023 (ESPN): 31-for-33 on field-goal attempts, 16-of-18 from 40-plus yards

Cameron Dicker landed with the Los Angeles Chargers in 2022 and he’s been their long-awaited solution after years of kicking woes. Since joining Los Angeles, Dicker has gone 50-of-53 on his field-goal attempts, boasting an outstanding 94.3 percent success rate without a miss from inside 50 yards. With the Chargers offense likely to be league-average this season, that should set up Dicker for another season with 30-plus attempts.

13. Cairo Santos, Chicago Bears

• Cairo Santos stats 2023 (ESPN): 35-of-38 on field-goal attempts, 15-of-18 from 40-plus yards

Cairo Santos, who started his NFL career in 2014 with the Kansas City Chiefs, remains as reliable as ever for the Chicago Bears. It’s especially nice for a franchise with a history of disappointment at the position. The 32-year-old has converted 90-plus percent of his field-goal attempts in each of his last two seasons, even after attempting 15 more kicks in 2023 than he did in 2022. He might not get 38 field-goal attempts in 2024 with the Bears’ improved offense, but he should remain accurate including from distance (7-for-8 from 50-plus in ’23.).

12. Chris Boswell, Pittsburgh Steelers

• Chris Boswell stats 2023 (ESPN): 29-for-31 on field-goal attempts, 6-for-7 from 60-plus yards

Credit to Chris Boswell for turning things around in 2024. The Pittsburgh Steelers’ placekicker dominated earlier in his career, proving to be one of the most accurate NFL kickers (92.3 percent conversion rate) from 2019-’21. Suddenly, Boswell’s 222 season (71.4 percent conversion rate) looked alarmingly close to his 2018 campaign (65 percent). Fortunately for the Steelers, Boswell rebounded by making 93.5 percent of his 31 attempts last season. If he can replicate that, the Steelers should feel confident in the 33-year-old for several years to come.

11. Daniel Carlson, Las Vegas Raiders

• Daniel Carlson stats 2023 (ESPN): 26-for-30, 10-of-13 from 40-plus yads

Consistency proved to be the issue for Daniel Carlson last year. He made all three of his attempts in September and boasted a stellar 93.8 percent conversion rate on 16 attempts from November through January. October, especially a Monday Night Football meeting with the Green Bay Packers (1-for-3) dragged down his season-long conversion rate to 86.7 percent. Carlson has the fifth-highest success rate in NFL history (88.02 percent) and that number skyrockets to 91.7 percent from 2020-’23. In short, the Las Vegas Raiders offense is the only reason Carlson isn’t more widely viewed as one of the best kickers in the NFL.

Best NFL kickers 2024

10. Jason Sanders, Miami Dolphins

• Jason Sanders stats 2023 (ESPN): 24-for-28 on field-goal attempts, 11-for-15 from 40-plus

Jason Sanders is an example of why NFL teams are sometimes willing to be patient with their kickers. After making 90-plus percent of his attempts in 2018 and ’20, Sanders’ success rate plummeted to 77.8 percent on 63 attempts from 2021-’22. He rebounded last year, making 85.7 percent of his 28 field-goal attempts, including 90.5 percent from inside 50 yards. Sanders is not the caliber of kicker Miami should routinely ask to attempt the bombs – 9-for-19 (47.4 percent) since 2021 – but he can be counted on from inside that line.

9. Tyler Bass, Buffalo Bills

• Tyler Bass stats 2023 (ESPN): 24-for-29, 8-of-12 from 40-plus yards

Tyler Bass will never be mistaken for the best kicker in the NFL, but the Buffalo Bills have had it so much worse. Entering his age-27 season, Bass finished 23rd in conversion rate (82.8 percent) in 2023. On the bright side, he combined for an 87.3 percent conversion rate in the two previous seasons, including 4-for-7 from 50-plus. One area Bass will need to improve to elevate himself as one of the best NFL kickers in 2024 is his efficiency from 30-30 yards, where his conversion rate is a below-average 83.7 percent in his career.

8. Jake Moody, San Francisco 49ers

• Jake Moody stats 2023 (ESPN): 21-for-25, 6-for-9 from 40-plus yards

The San Francisco 49ers gambled on Jake Moody with the 99th overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. It’s rarely smart to draft a kicker that early and even in Moody’s case, it still might not have been the best decision. However, he showed a lot of promise in his rookie season. Of Moody’s four missed field-goal attempts, three of them came in October but he then went 6-for-8 in the NFL playoffs. The potential with Moody is undeniable, as evidenced by his three makes from 50-plus in the playoffs, consistency is just the issue right now.

7. Nick Folk, Tennessee Titans

• Nick Folk stats 2023 (ESPN): 29-for-30, 11-for-12 from 50-plus yards out

The New England Patriots’ trading Nick Folk so Chad Ryland could take over at kicker might’ve been one of the worst decisions in football last season. That’s not just hindsight nor the fact that Ryland is now fighting for his NFL future in 2024. Folk led the NFL in field-goal conversion rate (96.7 percent) and the 39-year-old now sports a 91.8 percent conversion rate on 134 attempts since the 2022 season. He’ll be 40 years old in November, but Folk should have a lot of opportunities thanks to a much-improved Tennessee Titans offense.

6. Ka’imi Fairbairn, Houston Texans

• Ka’imi Fairbairn stats 2023 (ESPN): 27-for-28 on field-goal attempts, 5-for-6 from 50-plus yards

Ka’imi Fairbairn is arguably the most underrated kicker in the NFL. Since a disastrous 2022 campaign (78.9 percent), the Houston Texans kicker owns a 94.9 percent success rate on 59 attempts in the last two seasons. Those numbers include his excellence from 50-plus (11-for-12). With the Texans’ offense poised to be one of the top units in football this season, perhaps 2024 is the year Fairbairn gets his due as one of the best NFL kickers right now.

5. Younghoe Koo, Atlanta Falcons

• Younghoe Koee stats 2023 (ESPN): 32-for-37, 29-of-31 from inside 50 yards

It’s been a few years since Younghoe Koo had an excellent offense that could consistently put him in positions to kick, that’s coming in 2024. The Atlanta Falcons kicker isn’t as accurate as his early days, with his conversion rate falling from 92.6 percent (2019-’21) to 86.5 percent (2022-’23). He hit 50 percent of his attempts from 50-plus yards out last season and hasn’t missed a kick from inside 40 yards since 2020. At a time when conversation rates have varied from year to year for some top kickers, Koo is consistently above 85 percent.

4. Justin Tucker, Baltimore Ravnes

• Justin Tucker stats 2023 (ESPN):32-for-37, 31-of-32 from inside 50 yards

It certainly feels wrong to have the best NFL kicker ever outside the top 3 in our fantasy football kicker rankings. Unfortunately, it’s the case of accepting reality with Justin Tucker. The Baltimore Ravens placekicker last made 90-plus percent of his field-goal attempts in 2021. From 2022-’23, Tucker’s success rate sits at 86.3 percent with a 52.6 percent conversion rate (10-of-19) on attempts from 50-plus yards out. Now, with that acknowledged, Tucker has still went 31-for-32 on kicks inside 49 yards last season, so he’s still plenty accurate. It’s just unfortunate his success from distance has dropped.

3. Brandon Aubrey, Dallas Cowboys

• Brandon Aubrey stats 2023 (ESPN): 36-of-38 on field-goal attempts, 10-for-10 from 50-plus yards

At the bottom of our fantasy football kicker rankings last year because he had no track record, Brandon Aubrey certainly performed like one of the best kickers in the NFL last season. He converted 36-of-38 field-goal attempts, with his lone misses both coming on Jan. 7. Even more remarkable, Brandon Aubrey made all 10 of his field-goal attempts from 50-plus yards out in 2023. The Dallas Cowboys might have something special at a position that has haunted them, but we need to see another season before moving Aubrey to No. 1.

2. Jake Elliott, Philadelphia Eagles

• Jake Elliott stats 2023 (ESPN): 30-for-32 on field-goal attempts, 14-of-15 from 40-plus yards

Jake Elliott continues to be one of the best NFL kickers right now. He ranked sixth in success rate (93.8 percent) last season and was among just six kickers with a 90 percent success rate and at least seven conversions from 50-plus yards. It’s the consistency you’d expect from a placekicker with a 90.9 percent success rate on 88 field-goal attempts over the last three seasons, including 15-of-17 from 50-plus. There’s a reason Elliott is beloved by Philadelphia Eagles fans, players and coaches.

1. Harrison Butker, Kansas City Chiefs

• Harrison Butker stats 2023 (ESPN): 33-for-35 on field-goal attempts, 12-for-12 from 40-plus yards

Harrison Butker is the best kicker in the NFL. The Kansas City Chiefs placekicker shined in the NFL playoffs last season, converting 11-of-11 kicks, including the longest field goal in NFL history (57 yards). Butker recorded the fourth-best success rate (94.3 percent) in the NFL last season, including a perfect 12-for-12 from 40-plus yards out. As long as he avoids the issues that plagued him in 2022 – 75% field-goal success rate – Butker should remain one of the best NFL kickers right now.
