OLEAN — The Olean Police Department is investigating an incident during which a man allegedly entered an Olean business and threatened employees Monday, claiming to have a weapon.

According to an incident report filed at the Olean Police Station, a man reportedly entered Twin Tiers Outerwear at 701 E. State St. at 3:25 p.m. Monday and told an employee that he had a gun and was going to rob the store. The man later reportedly stated he was joking and left the store after being asked to do so.

No further information was available Monday night.

Olean Police

  • Monday, 5:26 a.m., Michael Charles Lathrop, 33, of 124 W. Greene St., was arrested on a bench warrant issued out of Olean City Court relating to charges of tampering with physical evidence and fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, class E felonies; second-degree obstruction of governmental administration and two counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, class A misdemeanors. Lathrop was additionally charged with resisting arrest, a class A misdemeanor. He was held pending arraignment.

Wellsville Police

  • Friday, no time provided, Samuel S. Russo, 44, of Wellsville, was charged with public lewdness, a class B misdemeanor. The charge stems from an incident reported on Bolivar Road. Russo was released with an appearance ticket.
  • Friday, no time provided, Ashley J. Taber, 35, of Wellsville, was charged with third-degree burglary, a class D felony; fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, fifth-degree conspiracy and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, class A misdemeanors. The charges stem from incidents reported on West State Street. Taber was released with an appearance ticket.
  • Friday, no time provided, Danny W. Logue, 24, and Eric T. Logue, 44, both of Wellsville, were each charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, a class A misdemeanor. The charges stem from the execution of a search warrant on Clark Street. Both suspects were released with appearance tickets.

Cuba police

  • Friday, 1:30 a.m., Katherine M. Loomis, 36, of Delevan, was arrested on a bench warrant. Loomis was transported to Allegany County Jail and held on $25,000 bail.
  • Friday, 11:14 p.m., Amber S. Douglas, 38, of Cuba, was charged with endangering the welfare of a child, a class A misdemeanor. Douglas was released with an appearance ticket.
  • Saturday, 9:10 p.m., Colby A, Smith, 30, of Cuba, was charged with endangering the welfare of a child and third-degree criminal sale of cannabis, class A misdemeanors. Smith was released with an appearance ticket.
  • Sunday, 1:07 p.m., Patrick L. Gessel, 54, of Cohocton, was charged with operating a motor vehicle while registration is suspended/revoked and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, unclassified misdemeanors; and unregistered motor vehicle, an infraction. Gessel was released with an appearance ticket.
  • Monday, 2:20 p.m., Colby A. Smith, 30, of Cuba, was arrested on a violation of probation warrant. Smith was remanded to Allegany County Jail pending further court proceedings.

Alfred Police

  • Saturday, no time provided, Khristian D. Wright, 18, of Bath, was charged with second-degree assault, a class D felony. The charge stems from a month-long investigation into a reported assault in April. Wright was released with an appearance ticket.
  • Monday, no time provided, Daniel Daglish, 29, of Alfred, was charged with petit larceny, a class A misdemeanor. According to police, Daglish allegedly stole money from a handbag on Main Street. Daglish was released with an appearance ticket.

Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office

  • GOWANDA — Elena R. Strohmeyer, 24, of Gowanda, was arrested at 2:39 p.m. June 3 on a warrant issued out of Cattaraugus County Court. Strohmeyer was released on her own recognizance.
  • PERRYSBURG — Amy L. Snyder, 38, of Fredonia, was arrested at 1:25 p.m. Friday on a warrant issued out of Little Valley Town Court. Snyder was released on her own recognizance.
  • GOWANDA — Joseph D. Sein Colon, 37, of Gowanda, was charged at 7 p.m. Saturday with fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon and endangering the welfare of a child, class A misdemeanors. The charges stem from the investigation of a report of a male brandishing a firearm. Sein Colon was released with an appearance ticket.

New York State Police

  • PORTVILLE — Chad A. Smith, 36, of Bolivar, was charged at 12:23 p.m. Saturday with fourth-degree criminal mischief and second-degree aggravated harassment, class A misdemeanors; fourth-degree stalking, third-degree criminal trespass and third-degree criminal tampering, class B misdemeanors. The charges stem from an incident reported May 19. Smith was reported held.
