The SB Virtual Youtuber Thread Vol.2: FAQ is Love (2024)

Welcome to the newest edition of the SB Virtual Youtuber thread! Here's some house rules and guidelines for nice and clean discussions:

• Be nice, and be respectful both to your fellow posters and to the Vtubers you're talking about. Underneath that cute avatar is a person too.
• Vtubers can have alternate personas, either the "past life" for a previous and retired persona, or "roommate" for a currently active one. Discussion of such personas in this thread is allowed, but with the following caveats:
  • Use spoiler tags or the in-line spoiler function to discuss alternate identities.
  • No open, i.e. non-spoilered contextual or direct allusion to the connection between identities, i.e. if someone unfamiliar with vtubers can figure out who it is just by reading it, then it's not okay. "Wink wink nudge" allusions are okay, as long as it's sufficiently vague.
  • Some alternate personalities can be "face streamers" (aka "fleshtubers") that show their IRL faces. Discussion of them here is allowed as long as it's within the context of their vtuber activities (i.e. one or more participants is in vtuber guise, or subject matter is directly related to vtubers like through organizations, etc.), otherwise it is encouraged to post in the dedicated thread for them as linked instead.
• For Reddit thread embedding with sound, use spoiler tags to prevent annoying auto-play.
• For Twitter (aka X) embedding, it is encouraged to openly embed only two per post, and use spoiler tags if embedding more than two.
• As per forum rules, quote an embedded tweet's content when posting. If the content is in languages other than English, provide at least a Google Translate or better of the content alongside the tweet's original content.
  • If copying text from a Twitter/X tweet that has emojis, use the "Toggle BB Code" function to change the reply box into simple text posting before pasting the text. This avoids the emojis appearing as huge images when replying here.

This thread is for talking about the online activities, news, streams, merch, events, and other things related to Vtubers, from the large and popular agencies to the aspiring indies. However, there are other threads where certain topics related to vtubing can be discussed:

• Nonvirtual Politics (Virtual Youtuber Industry Thread) (Old thread, Old Thread 2, Old Thread 3, Old Thread 4, Old Thread 5, Old Thread 6) - The thread for the behind-the-scenes politics, inner-workings, scandals, incidents and other more "serious" discussion of the vtubing industry and the people behind them. Also a better place to more openly talk about "past lives" and "roommates".
• VTuber Image Thread - Image thread for fanarts, cosplays, and memes.
• Virtual Youtuber Lore Discussion Thread - For discussing the fictional "in-character" vtuber lore and backstories
• Vtuber Fanfic thread - Creative writing thread for Vtuber-related fiction.
• SB does Twitch/YouTube : Discussion, resources, and an index - For the aspiring Vtubers on this board who want to discuss tips, as well as provide help and support for streaming activities.
• SB Youtuber Thread - For discussion of non-Vtuber streamers, and due to their proximity any IRL personas of Vtubers.
• The HoloCure thread - Discussion on the popular fangame by Kay Yu.
• Virtual Insanity: The SB Virtual Youtuber Thread - link to the old Vtuber thread.

They've mentioned before that pure Micomet collabs have been rare lately and they've often had either the rest of Shiraken or Foobs joining in. I gotta say that having everyone's friend in there to help balance the business teetee elevates what's already a winning combination.
